Mindfulness in Education

Mindfulness helps train the mind's attention to be more aware of what is actually happening, rather than worrying about what has happened in the past or might happen in the future. It is being open to whatever is taking place in the present moment with curiosity and without judgement. Mindfulness helps develop awareness in all relationships and helps bring in more empathy when managing difficult emotions and situations.

Mindful Switch works with school boards to bring Mindfulness programs and workshops to students and school staff. We offer hourly classroom workshops and weekly lunch/afterschool programs or we can also work with you to customize programs that suit the needs of your school.

We offer Professional Development workshops & training for staff that can be designed to your schools specific needs. Our programs are experiential and interactive. We have highly trained facilitators who have experience in delivering programs to students and staff in schools boards across the GTA.

We believe that educators can cultivate learning environments in which they and their students can emotionally thrive.

Emotional Regulation
Emotional regulation is a person’s ability to monitor and moderate an emotion or set of emotions. Emotional regulation helps kids develop independence, self-discipline, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence also helps children understand the meaning of their relationships with others, build mental resilience and form their identities.

Improved Mental Wellbeing
Mindfulness techniques help kids improve overall mental wellbeing by building awareness as it teaches them to thoughtfully process emotions and situations, rather than ignoring uncomfortable feelings or reacting spontaneously. This skill can promote positive mental health and help kids build skills to last a lifetime. Research finds that kids who practiced mindfulness reported lower levels of anxiety and stress.
