MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is an 8-week program designed to help individuals manage stress through mindfulness practices like meditation, body scanning, and gentle movement. Pain, overwhelm and reactive coping responses manifested by life's stressors can take us away from feeling at home in our bodies.
As a result, there is a dissociation within ourselves, creating challenges in emotional processing, focus, relationships, decision-making and self-regulation. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the MBSR course teaches participants to train attention and focus in a specific way to cultivate awareness and emotional regulation, and provide tools to respond more effectively to stress, anxiety, and pain.
Yes, the MBSR Certificate of completion meets one of the prerequisite requirements for the MBSR Facilitation Certificate Training Pathway. By completing this 8-week course, participants can use the certificate as a foundational step towards becoming a certified MBSR instructor/facilitator.
The course includes 8 weekly sessions that last 2.5 hours each week. Additionally, the program features a day-long silent retreat, allowing participants to engage in intensive mindfulness practices for 4 hours.
Participants are expected to attend all 8 sessions and actively engage in daily mindfulness practices, guided by the course materials and certified instructors.
No prior experience with mindfulness or meditation is necessary to join the course. The MBSR program is designed for both beginners who want to learn how to meditate and for individuals looking to deepen their existing practice. Certified instructors will guide you through every step of the process.
