Mindfulness Everyday
I took the 8 Week MBSR course and I can’t even begin to describe how it has helped me. I had been dealing with general anxiety and stress for many years and this course taught me different coping strategies and ways in which I can ground myself and relax. I now practice mindfulness regularly and I have this course to thank for it.

I took the 8 Week MBSR course to understand how meditation can help support individuals with chronic pain and every day stressors. After taking this course, I can confidently say that this course helps to change the relationship that one has with pain, and make it more manageable. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, and am now looking at next steps on how to become a trained facilitator myself so that I can help support the patients that I work with at my clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training course?

MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is an 8-week program designed to help individuals manage stress through mindfulness practices like meditation, body scanning, and gentle movement. Pain, overwhelm and reactive coping responses manifested by life's stressors can take us away from feeling at home in our bodies.

As a result, there is a dissociation within ourselves, creating challenges in emotional processing, focus, relationships, decision-making and self-regulation. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the MBSR course teaches participants to train attention and focus in a specific way to cultivate awareness and emotional regulation, and provide tools to respond more effectively to stress, anxiety, and pain.

Does this course count as a prerequisite for the MBSR Instructor Certification training?

Yes, the MBSR Certificate of completion meets one of the prerequisite requirements for the MBSR Facilitation Certificate Training Pathway. By completing this 8-week course, participants can use the certificate as a foundational step towards becoming a certified MBSR instructor/facilitator.

How much time is required to complete the course?

The course includes 8 weekly sessions that last 2.5 hours each week. Additionally, the program features a day-long silent retreat, allowing participants to engage in intensive mindfulness practices for 4 hours.

What are the course requirements for participants?

Participants are expected to attend all 8 sessions and actively engage in daily mindfulness practices, guided by the course materials and certified instructors.

Is prior experience in meditation or mindfulness necessary to enroll?

No prior experience with mindfulness or meditation is necessary to join the course. The MBSR program is designed for both beginners who want to learn how to meditate and for individuals looking to deepen their existing practice. Certified instructors will guide you through every step of the process.

Is MBSR covered by insurance?

Our MBSR program is delivered by a Registered Health Professional and is eligible for health insurance coverage through your benefits provider. Some of our Registered Health Professionals include Registered Social Workers (RSW), Registered Psychologists, Registered Occupational Therapists (R.OT), and Registered Psychotherapists (RP). If you are a resident of Ontario, you may be able to access this program with coverage from your insurance plan. Be sure to check with your provider to confirm your eligibility.

How should I prepare for the full-day retreat?

The full-day silent retreat is a 4-hour session that takes place online. To prepare, ensure you have a quiet space free from distractions and bring necessary items like water, comfortable clothing, and any other essentials to support you through this immersive mindfulness experience.

What is the duration of the full-day retreat?

The full-day retreat is typically 4 hours long, giving participants an opportunity to deepen their mindfulness practice in a focused, silent environment.

What is the online delivery format?

Participation for all trainings and courses will be through the zoom platform via your computer with interactive audio, video and chat. Please note this will be a highly interactive web-based program and your full engagement will be required.
